Solar Wheels
The equilateral cross is a virtually universal symbol. In many cultures is symbolizes the union of heaven and earth or the inner and outer worlds of the human psyche. It was used in Norse culture and a symbol of the Sun. The solar wheel represents the sacred circle of life, its basic four
directions, and the elements. Animal totems serve as guardian of each of
the directions. Animal totems also serve to link the wearer with his/her spirit guide or totem spirit. It is seen in many religions and belief systems with similar significance. In Wicca and other neo-Pagan religions the sun cross most commonly represents the sun and the four quadrants the wheel of the year, i.e. the four seasonal cycles of the year. In other belief systems the symbolize the union of heaven and earth. In Native American beliefs this is called a medicine wheel.
